This is the Wigwam motel on Route 66 in Holbrook, Arizona and yes, it's an operating motel. I could not resist stopping to take a few photographs. As you can see, each unit has an old car parked in front of it as well as a bench seat. On the inside there is not much more than 2 beds and a small bathroom but it's a cool place.

While vacationing at Lake Havasu Arizona, I was watching some RC model boat racers practice. Here is a shot with the sun directly behind one of the boats. My camera for the day was an Olympus E-30, 70-200mm lens, and a circular polarizer. It is not quite as sharp as I would have liked it, but the light shining through the rooster tail was pretty cool.

This is a collection old old stuff my mother had passed down to me. Can you tell that's me in the photo? If you look real close, I am also in the newspaper clipping walking on the path by the water wheel during a field trip to an Indiana State Park. My daughter Lindy provided to old suitcase which I set down by one of my windows. Effects were added to give it an aged look and made it one of my favorites.

This bottle of Francis Darroze 1973 Domaine de Coquillon was picked up while I was in Chicago and the Padilla Miami cigar I found in Indianapolis. Don't they just look absolutely luscious? I will have to make time to indulge in these two soon.. retirement party maybe? .. na.. too far away. How about Monday Night Football.

Two friends strolling on the beach in Florida amidst a flurry of shore birds. It just appears so peaceful. With the temperature here in Indiana at 20 degrees, Florida seems awfully inviting. You wouldn't know it by this photo, which was taken south of St. Augustine last January, that the night before they had a temperature (a record I think) of 28 degrees. The big buzz down there was how cold it was for an extended period of time. So much so that it damaged a big chunk of their fruit and vegetable crops not to mention putting a big whammy on tourism.

I found this cool old railroad building off of US52 in Indiana. Check out the ivy... doesn't it look like the shape of the United States? The property owners were all to gracious and let me on the property. They also added that no one had stopped to photograph it before (that they were aware of)... too bad, it's a great old building and it has some great old stuff on the inside too!

Antique Fire Engine at IFD 150th Anniversary Parade

During 2009 Indianapolis Fire Department 150th Anniversary Parade, this gentleman was spotted painstakingly tending to this beautiful antique fire engine. Firefighters are a patriotic bunch as one can see by the numerous American flag references about the engine. I particularly found the "Adults At Play" sign humorous.
